Position Title: Senior Communications Advisor

Position Type: Full time – permanent

Position Description and Qualifications: You’re an experienced communications strategist who is passionate about changing lives in your community. Put this vision to work helping United Way create pathways out of poverty for more than 120,000 people in the Alberta Capital Region.

You excel at leading the introduction of new initiatives and products, and have a proven track record in developing and delivering communications strategies that get results. And you’re known for your exceptional facilitation skills and ability to manage high-profile projects with multiple stakeholders.

As a senior communications professional who thrives on variety, you can manage projects through all communications channels. This includes advertising mediums, digital communication platforms and approaches, social media, video production, graphic design, print production, media relations, special events management and public speaking.

You have a strong understanding of the audiences you serve. Through exceptional written and verbal communications skills you can connect with them effectively in any medium – whether it’s storytelling, copywriting, blogging, a factual report, a presentation or personalized communications product.
Reporting to the Director of Communications, your position works closely with a team of marketing and communications professionals and collaborates daily with both internal and external stakeholders. While the scope of communications deliverables is broad, your efforts are focused on developing innovative initiatives, introducing new philanthropic investment opportunities and promoting major giving programs.

Your background includes a degree or diploma in communications, public relations or related discipline, plus a minimum of four years of experience in a similar position. Equivalencies will be considered. Affiliation with CPRS or IABC is preferred, as is experience in the non-profit sector and an understanding of fundraising principles.
