Position Summary
Are you a talented writer able to grasp complex subject matter and effortlessly communicate it in clear, concise, and engaging ways?

Are you the kind of person that mentally edits everything you read? Do you enjoy discussion the merits of the Oxford comma? Did you notice the errors in the previous two sentences?

The Communications Writer & Editor reports to the Deputy Director of Communications and works as part of a team of communications practitioners who enable internal clients to achieve APEGA’s strategic and business goals.

As the Communications Writer & Editor, you will:

• support a fast-paced communications department in creating content for a variety of forms
• participate in all stages of content creation: conceptualization, research, initial content development, writing, revision—based on project and client requirements
• create and edit a wide variety of content, such as advertising, annual reports, magazine and news articles, news releases, PowerPoint presentations, speeches, and surveys
• convert ambiguous and verbose text to clear and concise content
• deliver compelling headlines and copy to support APEGA activities
Qualifications
► A minimum of five of direct, practical experience in the fields of communications, journalism, public relations, or marketing
► Mastery of writing fundamentals, including grammar, logic, and syntax
► Skilled in substantive editing
► Comfortable preparing for and conducting content-gathering interviews
► Able to easily and quickly switch tasks and priorities, as well as track multiple projects with different deadlines
► Familiarity with engineering, geoscience, or other self-regulated professions is an asset
