Position Description and Qualifications: Manager, Communications

Overseeing a team that develops and implements communication plans and activities, the Manager, Communications supports the organization’s goals and business objectives through branding, messaging and communications activities.

Your primary responsibilities

  • Coordinate and evaluate the work of the communication team in a variety of projects including websites, publications, special events, social media and projects
  • Develop policies and procedures related to communications, branding, marketing and sponsorships
  • Oversee the development of various communications pieces including strategic communication plans, internal communications, messaging, media releases, greetings and speeches and letters to the editor
  • Anticipate future requirements and develop proactive communications, promotions and awareness strategies, including internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop communications strategies that are consistent with research findings, business and audience needs
  • Develop and implement project plans

You possess

  • Baccalaureate degree in communications or public relations or equivalent
  • Seven to nine years of experience developing and implementing communications strategies with demonstration of progression in responsibilities
  • Advanced writing and editorial skills
  • Ability to assess issues and their strategic impact internally and externally
  • Sound project management skills, including the ability to manage timelines, team dynamics and multiple stakeholders
  • A demonstrated ability to inspire a shared vision to empower and motivate a team
  • Experience in managing web and social media an asset
  • Experience in media relations
  • Event management experience an asset
