Position Description and Qualifications:
Are you passionate about strategic communications and stakeholder engagement? We are seeking a strong and confident communicator to join a team of self-driven, passionate and high-energy communications specialists to provide leadership to the organization’s stakeholder engagement efforts.
Reporting to the Director, Communications & Engagement, the Senior Advisor, Stakeholder Engagement provides stakeholder engagement leadership and advice to help the organization through consultation, project and process management and strategic communications planning, implementation and evaluation.
The Senior Advisor develops and leads stakeholder engagement initiatives to advance the organization’s strategic plans and, specifically, develops engagement strategies and tactics to demonstrate accountability to internal and external stakeholders.
The ideal candidate is a team player with a proactive, take-charge attitude. This person should have strong interpersonal skills, excellent project management, strategic thinking, and analytical skills, a thorough understanding of strategic planning processes and expertise in communications planning and issues management.
Description:
The Senior Advisor will provide stakeholder engagement leadership, advice and support to senior leaders and their teams on best practices through consultation, planning and advising. Key responsibilities include:
• Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies that include both in-person and online channels to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Work closely with the portfolio leaders and the organization’s management team to ensure that stakeholder needs are met and feedback is incorporated into decision-making processes.
• Conduct stakeholder needs assessments and analysis to identify areas for improvement and opportunities for increased engagement.
• Develop tools, databases, processes and a stakeholder engagement framework that ensures a harmonized and consistent approach to stakeholder engagement.
• Organize strategic, targeted stakeholder events to promote engagement and ensure stakeholder satisfaction.
• Manage stakeholder communication channels and develop content that effectively communicates relevant information to stakeholders.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure that stakeholder feedback is incorporated into product development and other decision-making processes.
• Monitor and analyze stakeholder feedback, providing insights and recommendations to improve stakeholder engagement strategies and processes.
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external key communications stakeholders, vendors, and consultants.
• Acts as a connector of people, ideas and the broader community to help the organization achieve excellence in stakeholder engagement.
Required qualifications:
• Baccalaureate degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, arts or social sciences required.
• A minimum of five years of experience planning, implementing and evaluating stakeholder engagement strategies and in supporting senior leaders or managing significant projects and initiatives required.
• Excellent consulting and facilitation skills and the ability to work successfully in a team-based setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills to build a network of key internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience in project management required, including the ability to manage timelines, budgets, team dynamics and multiple stakeholders.
• Ability to think strategically with proven critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Internal communications expertise and familiarity and proficiency in working with web communications and digital engagement platforms required.
Preferred qualifications:
• International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) training a definite asset.
• Experience leading stakeholder engagement for complex health care or public sector organizations with multiple stakeholders preferred.

• Proven skills in developing, implementing and monitoring processes geared towards service excellence and continuous quality improvement.
• Ability to assess issues and their strategic impact internally and externally.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and change in a dynamic work environment.
• Understanding of strategic planning processes.
