Hear from two accredited professionals, Crystal Wood, APR and Bernie Poitras, APR on the steps you need to take to become an accredited public relations professional. Session open to all who have been in the public relations industry for five or more years. There will be time in the session to ask questions. This is a free session for members and non-members. About Bernie:
An accredited communications practitioner with more than 30 years’ experience, Bernie has led PR teams in a variety of environments including non-profit, government and the private sector. He has provided PR counsel and advice to executive teams across several disciplines including post-secondary, research and technology, healthcare, municipal government, social housing and sports, among others. In addition to managing his own PR consulting firm, he teaches part-time in the MacEwan University Public Relations program and is an APR accreditation grader with the Canadian Public Relations Society.
About Crystal:
With a communications career spanning over a decade across non-profit, municipal, and engineering sectors, Crystal Wood leads as the Engagement, Change, and Communications Manager with GHD’s Future of Water team. Five years ago, she founded Crown Communications Consulting, which enriches her professional journey by allowing her to explore innovative communication strategies outside her full-time role. This venture has enabled Crystal to collaborate with a diverse clientele, including realtors, Indigenous organizations, tech startups and sports agents, tapping into her passion for relationship building, reputation management and storytelling. Crystal values mentorship for the opportunity it provides to connect with fellow communication professionals, exchange experiences, and collectively enhance their professional knowledge.
