Position Description and Qualifications

We have a spot open for a Manager of Communications. This is a great opportunity to oversee a wide range of external-facing communications and supervise a team of experienced, enthusiastic and talented communications consultants who proudly support staff and students in 215 schools, administration and the Board of Trustees.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Developing and implementing the Division’s external and digital communications strategy
assessing the efficacy of the Division’s website, social media presence and external advertising
overseeing the development of key external publications for parents and schools
managing the overall Edmonton Public School Board’s brand strategy
providing communications advice and assistance to the Board of Trustees, Superintendent, schools and Central Services departments

Education/Qualifications

  • a degree in communications, public relations or related field
  • a minimum 6 years related experience, including media relations and digital communication platforms
  • experience with social media, external-facing websites, design and multimedia
  • membership in IABC, CPRS or CACE considered an asset
  • excellent communicator, writer and champion of plain language
  • strong mentor and servant leader to your team and colleagues
  • strong writer who embraces plain language and knows how to adapt the written voice depending on the audience

Rate of Pay: $62.01 – $80.21 hourly
