About this event

Please join us for the 2024-2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday, June 18, 2025, starting at 5:30 p.m. Members are encouraged to arrive a little early to sign in.

The AGM is expected to take approx.15 minutes, and will be immediately followed by our last PD event of the board year: Bird is the Word: Leaning into the Absurd and Letting Communications Take Flight – Meghan Brennan, communications manager for the Town of Taber.

When 20 ostriches made a break for it near Taber in 2022, the RCMP gave chase as the world watched. The viral video of police pursuing giant, remarkably fast, flightless birds was funny enough, but Meghan Brennan, communications manager with the Town of Taber, saw a golden opportunity.

With a mix of humour, speed, and strategic storytelling, she transformed the amusing chaos into Flightless Birds for Foodbanks, a triple award-winning campaign that raised funds, goodwill, and eyebrows in all the right ways.

In this presentation, Meghan breaks down how humour can be your best communications asset. Join CPRS-Edmonton as Megan shows us when to let humor lead, how to take smart risks, and why sometimes, the best thing you can do is embrace the absurd.

Light refreshments will be offered.
